INSIGHT Project wins ICAD- Shark & Best Exhibition Award...

Updated: May 29, 2022

Kicking off in April 2015, Lynsey Browne and Lucy Ryan devised the IN SIGHT project to help raise awareness and funds for homelessness from the perspective of those who had directly experienced it.

With a background in the creative industry they approached the Dublin Simon Community with their idea of a photography project through the lens of the homeless community.

The Dublin Simon Community where delighted to come on board. With their help, 3 classes were held in a Dublin Simon Community building on Capel Street, where Des Byrne (founder of the Irish Street photography group) gave a talk on composition, angles, camera tips etc. and gave inspiration on street photography to participants.

An afternoon in the Capuchin Day Centre to recruit more participants brought the total number of cameras handed out to 45.

The results have been thought-provoking, heart-breaking and humorous. Our first month-long exhibition of 40 of these photos took place at The Powerscourt Centre, South William Street from May 5th 2016.

Our second exhibition; ‘IN SIGHT OUT‘ took place on the railings of St. Stephen’s Green from Monday 28th of November to Monday 12th of December 2016.

The full selection of photos from the project remains available to view in our shop, where all photos are for sale to raise funds for the Dublin Simon Community. Prints are just €20 and can be ordered on the site. Framed photos are just €40 and can be ordered by emailing

We hope you enjoy looking at the photos and reading the descriptions written by the photographers.

Keep up to date with the IN SIGHT project on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter : )
